Down with the unapproved section!
Hear me out first on this one. All opinions welcome!
Alright, I’m bringing this up because I’m not staying true to myself in moderating, and it is really starting to bug me. I dislike being the world’s biggest hypocrite. So, here are my ideas… Please bear with me. It is past 2 am in the morning, and I’m trying to be coherent.
This isn’t because the system isn’t working well, this is a personal opinion that I have, and an idea that I would like to share with everyone. I would also like input from those who are RP moderators and who aren’t. Now to get started.
I say: Down with the unapproved section! In with free Role-playing for all!
You say: No.
Well, give me a chance to explain myself.
Right now, in the RP section of DC, we are not an inclusive bunch. Not at all. We only accept people who write five sentences or more per post. I also can not forget to add that people have to have perfect grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the plot and story have to be appealing to the approver. Whoo! A lot of people get through that one every day! Sure we approve RPs a couple a day, but the real question is: How many different people get through?
The truth of the matter is that not everyone wants to roleplay in a slower paced roleplay. Some people like short answers and immediate action. They don’t want character development, they want a good time. We don’t let them do it in the games, so why can’t we allow them to do it in the RP section?
I thought it was spam at first too… However, it isn’t. It’s all part of roleplaying. Whether you use”*Swings a blade at Julian and jumps on his back* Stop Thief! *screams*” or “The man swung his blade at the thief as the man run away, leaping towards him. ‘Stop thief!’ he cried.” or “-Insert Long Version-”. It’s all roleplaying down at the core, it is simply one of the many ways that people enjoy roleplaying, and my good ol’ argument, who is to say which style is really better than the other?
