It was early morning and all through the kitchen the smell of pancakes flowed through the air. Standing in the kitchen with multiple stoves heating was Rynn, hair tied back in a messy knot, and brown eyes focused upon the food bubbling in the pan. Upon a heating stone were possibly 100 pancakes. She’d been at this for a while, it would seem. Upon the second stove was the sizzling smell of breakfast meat as it cooked and popped. It was the smell of breakfast that lingered everywhere, and Rynn wouldn’t have it any other way. With a little hop in her step, the woman gingerly walked towards the meat and tossed it up into the air and flipped it into the pan.
“Whoo hooo!” She called out to no one in particular as she saw the meat land back within the pan and not upon the floor as it had the times before. “Breakfast will be served shortly, Asyralith!” She giggled as she saw the whirling blue eyes of her dragon peering at her from the doorway of the dinning hall. A nose was nearly stuck in the doorway as Asyralith tried to wiggle her head in a bit more. Maw opening to revel shiny white teeth and a bright pink tongue. The large hole in the ceiling had its perks when a dragon wanted to come in. It would be getting out that would be more than a problem.
Giggling, Rynn grabbed a pancake from the ‘stone with the tip of her fingers and lathered it in syrup before she tossed it into her dragon’s open maw. The teeth came down with a clear snap as the dragoness munched upon the piece of food much too small for her. Her eyes whirled green before the great Kithmitir opened her mouth once more, waiting for Rynn to serve her.
“You silly thing, if I feed it all to you, there will be none left for the others!” The young woman chuckled as she danced towards her dragon and allowed her hand to run along her eyeridge, fingers kneading into the scales.
~Does it matter? You’ve informed no one that you were cooking today… I wouldn’t want those pancakes to go to waste.~ Asyralith rumbled, trying to get her head further in the doorway, a draconic sigh escaping her as she wished that she was smaller. Moving her head against her rider, she turned her eyes towards the pancakes as she allowed her nostrils to widen, taking in the scent. She said nothing for a moment, waiting for the right time.
~That batch is burning…~ The dragon whispered to the woman, rumbling as Rynn dashed towards the pancakes, shaking her head as she looked at the dragon.
Throwing the burnt pancakes towards her bonded, Rynn took a plate out of the cupboard and stacked it high with pancakes, fruit, and herdbeast slivers. “Come on, you large lump of hide! Get yourself out of the way. I’m not wasting anymore food on a bottomless pit.” The dark angel chuckled as her dragon struggled to get her head out of the doorway and attempted to walk between the tables without knocking anything over (rather unsuccessfully) as she laid down beside a table. The rider followed before seating herself down and propping her feet against her dragon.
“Even if no one comes, darling. At least when they wake up, they’ll have something somewhat different cooked for them. It’s not porridge. Besides, I get to spend this moment with you.” The woman said happily as she took a bite of fruit and syrup, eyes closed as a hum of pleasure escaped her throat.
~Aye…~ Asyralith agreed as she watched Rynn eat, leaning her head in and attempting to steal the top pancake from her plate to no avail. ~If you really loved me, however, you’d give me some of that meat… It smells delectable!~
Only laughter echoed through the room as Rynn passed a slice of meat towards her dragon, and placed a pancake upon the table edge. Talk about a lazy morning!
